We want Femelanin to reflect the creative communities it showcases and celebrates. This policy serves as a list of our current inclusive production practices.

CURATION

Femelanin prioritises curating a diverse and representative lineup for our conference and workshop events. We recognise our responsibility to amplify voices that have been traditionally marginalised both in our community and in our society, but this doesn't mean that women from other backgrounds cannot join us .

We aim to cover all of our conference speakers and cover travel and accommodation for all speakers and performers, but cannot always deliver this due to funding restrictions

Where relevant, we provide explicit content warnings for our conferences and workshop talks.

SUBSIDISED TICKETS

Where possible we try and offer, subsidised tickets to our members with low or no income , prioritising underrepresented and economically disadvantaged individuals. Our free passes are randomly distributed through our lottery, and you can apply when filling out our survey.

ACCESSIBILITY

Our events will always take place at accessible venues, where seating will be reserved for people with disabilities (with and without mobility devices). These seats will be alongside non-reserved seating. Service animals are welcome.

Accessible and gender-neutral toilets (with the available facilities labelled) will be available at most of our event spaces.

Designated accessibility staff will be available during our events. Should you need pre-planned support please contact femail@femelanin.org.

HEALTH & SAFETY

Our venues are risk assessed before hire  and at least one of our staff/event volunteers are trained first aiders will be on site for the duration of each event. A first aid kit is also available at all of our hired venues.

FAMILIES & CHILDCARE

Most of our events are evening events to which our hired venues may not possess a license for your children. Where it applies, we aim to create a family-inclusive environment and all our venues are all-ages.

MEDIA CONSENT

Pictures and visual and audio recordings of attendees will taken during our events, if you do not want your picture taken, please flag with a member of our staff. We will respect individual speakers’ media consent.
